This is the most beautiful job in the world…and I love it! It brings together so many aspects – ecology, science, history and philosophy. And of course my passion for hiking, being inebriated by the smell of Nature, the search for unusual paths in the woods and tracking animal paw prints or other tell tale signs.
I can hear you say “what is an Environmental Hiking Guide? A Tourist guide?” No they are quite different although in many areas they overlap. Both are regulated by the Italian government and we are trained in our respective fields and hence given a licence. In 2012 I completed the environmental hiking guide course to gain my GAE Guida Ambientale Escursionistica licence.
I have enriched that knowledge with my philosophy and theatre studies always looking for the links between literature and science, philosophy and ecology.
My passion and respect for Nature comes from my father who grew up in the country and we spent hours exploring the local woods and fields, while I listened to his stories.
I have explored Tuscany far and wide and want to show you some of the known and lesser known areas close to Florence.
So please join me on a pleasant hike in the glorious Nature of Tuscany.
